Default Guild Meeting

Date: 8-10-08

Welcome to the 1st OWS WoW Guild Meeting!!! Thank you so much for attending. I will start scheduling these about every 2 months so keep an eye out on the Group Calendar.

So, let’s get going! First topic I wanted to bring up is Group Calendar. If you don’t have this add-on yet, please get it. You can get it by going to GroupCalendar | World of Warcraft Addons | World of Warcraft @ Curse.com . Group Calendar is where you can schedule any instance runs you would like to do and guild events. All membership levels can schedule on the calendar. When you schedule a run try to schedule it a couple days in advance. Talk to other guild members and try to arrange a time that works best for the folks you want to go. It is OK to schedule something on the same day as another event with the exception of Guild Meetings. Please don’t schedule an event expecting a higher level member to run you. Which brings us to our next topic…Begging.

Begging - The begging has started to get a little out of hand lately. OWS has a NO begging policy. So, what does that mean? Begging for gold is not permitted. I understand that we all get into financial crunches sometimes and there are guild members out there that are willing to help out, within reason. Asking “hey can I have 50g to get started out”, in guild chat, not ok. Saying, “I am 10g away from being able to get this [insert request here]”, is ok. Someone may just feel generous and offer to help you out. Saying that over and over to get attention, not ok. Just like you, we all work for our gold and it is our choice on how we decide to spend it.

Begging for power leveling is not permitted. Just don’t ask. It’s never ok.

Begging for a higher level member to run you through an instance is not ok. If you want to run an instance, schedule it or work on forming a group. It’s ok to advertise in guild chat that you have an event scheduled. As you see people who would be a good fit for the group, let them know you have it setup in case they are interested. Don’t continue to spam the event over and over in guild chat. Be reasonable. On occasion a higher level member may want to help out, that is their choice. If you ask and they say no, don’t be disrespectful to them. Remember, they pay to play this game too and will donate their time how they want. I have found you can catch more flies with honey. So, be nice, be active and helpful and you will find people are more willing to help you out.

Website - For those who don’t know, we are a branch of the One World Syndicate community that plays many different types of games together. We pride ourselves on not just being a group of people that plays games together, but also a community of family and friends. Please visit and register on our website to see what we are all about! One World Syndicate - Home We have forums there so drop in and check them out. Please also check the WoW forums for a list of our guild rules and guidelines and current discussions.

Recruiting/Age – Due to a recent vote within the OWS organization the age limit of membership is 16. I know several of you are younger than 16. Don’t worry, you will not be kicked out of the guild. All new recruits going forward must be 16 or older. When you are recruiting new members please make sure you find out how old they are before you invite them. Please don’t make me a bad guy for having to kick a kid out of the guild because they are under the age requirement. There are exceptions, if it is a family member like your child or brother or sister they are welcome to join the community, but you are responsible for them.

Promotion: Recruit to Member – Several people have asked recently, “How do I get promoted to member?” Be active, be helpful, and be nice! =) Once you have registered on the website and have been a recruit with the guild for at least 15 days you will be eligible for membership. The officers have a voting cycle. Once you are eligible to be voted on the officers vote and if you pass you will be promoted on the next promotion date. People who are already a member of the OWS community can join as Members in the WoW guild. If you see a – in the notes section of your guild profile it means we don’t know your OWS website name. Please let an officer know so we can update that information.

Vent – We use vent frequently. Check Guild Information, which is a button on the Guild tab. The vent logon information is listed there. You will need to be registered on the website to get access to move to different channels in vent. If you are not registered you will only be able to access the Public channel and will have to ask someone to move you to the WoW guild channel. Someone will need to manually update your vent profile once you have registered on the website so just let an admin know and be patient. They are busy playing games too and will help you out as soon as they can. Vent is not a requirement, but once we start doing raids it will be required during the raid.

Guild Bank/Donations – All levels of access are able to donate items and money to the bank. Please do not put grey items in the bank. I would rather you vendor them and donate the money. I will periodically clean out the bank and AH/Vendor the items and put the money back in the Guild Bank. As we can afford more tabs we will break down the tab categories to make it easier to find and donate items. I have updated the Info section of each tab with details on what each membership level has access to do. All levels of membership have the ability to use 1g a day of guild funds to repair their items. You do this at a repair NPC. The button next to the Repair All button. The amount you can use is restricted by guild bank settings.
