There will be changes happening. Things will stop or be stopped. Everyone will follow the rules or be treated the same as everyone else if they do not.

Mic Spamming, Spawn Camping, Disregard for OWS Rules, Insubordination, and Admin Abuse will all be punished.

This is coming up a lot, and I'm getting frustrated. Can we get a discussion of spawn camping and shooting into spawn going? I don't feel it should be a flat rule where spawns are untouchable. We don't have a rule forbidding shooting out of the spawn area, doesn't that bother anyone?

For example, this comes up a lot on goldrush. When the defense is finally pushed back to their spawn, a good portion of the time someone complains of spawn camping. At the beginning of the map, isn't the ENTIRE red team camping blue's spawn? It's an attack/defend map, the defenders try not to let blue advance, blue tries to advance the whole map. The second stage of dustbowl is practically impossible to win as offense without some spawn camping. Getting up on that ledge overlooking the point and raining death on the hallway leading to red spawn.

On the other topic, say on dustbowl say two people are fighting near the beginning of the map. They're shooting at each other and having a good 'ole time. Then, the blue guy decides he's losing, and runs back into the spawn. Why should the red guy have to stop shooting him? If the red guy ran away, you'd be sure the blue guy would follow him and finish him. I'm not suggesting anyone stand there as hw and shoot the chaingun down the stairs, but you should be allowed to chase someone into the spawn area.

There should be a safe area absolutely, but this rule needs a caveat. If you've engaged them, and they try to retreat you should be able to chase them as long as possible. If they make it out of range, then leave the spawn area. By our rules, someone could stand inches from the spawn door, pop out for half a second and shoot a rocket, pop back and be safe. Anyone who tries to kill him would be kicked.

Those are my thoughts. If I'm the only one who feels this needs some tweaking... well then I guess I'm SOL.

My personal feeling on spawn camping varies from map to map. There is a difference between spawn killing and spawn camping.

For example on mach4 I wont yell at people for killing people at the spawn doors. Sometimes its the only way to grab the intel. What I usually do is sticky the doors and then grab the intel and get the hell out of there.

However if a medic/heavy are just camping the doors for the fun of killing I threaten them. Spawn killing should never turn into camping.

I don't think that is out of line in the least bit.

Nope, and I would back those comments Tyrain 110%.

You are correct, it's like Chess, once you lift your fingers off of the piece, your move is done. Don't run out of spawn, start shit, and then run back into spawn and expect not to be shot at.....

Plus, on Defend/attack maps, I feel spawn camping is going to happen and in fact, it's kind of the idea of the map.

I mean every time I'm on an attack/defend map, the first thing most people do on defend is sticky the damn spawn exits and ubercharge someone so as soon as that door opens...BLAM!!!

I'm cool with that also...but not cool with it being done the entire map. At the beginning that's cool, but if we already have 1 point or whatever, dont' continue to sticky the doors..I mean that really only helps you gain points doesn't it? Not really helping your team that much...

Also I'm 100% against setting up sentries close to spawn exit doors...they are a little harder to take down.

As long as you have another option from spawn, then I'm so inclined to say, Just go around if you are getting camped...

But that's just me.................................

Is it possible we can have a meeting about these issues on vent and have a civil discussion? We need to define "Mic Spamming, Spawn Camping, Disregard for OWS Rules, Insubordination, and Admin Abuse" so there can be no mistake. Otherwise, nothing is going to change because these things are not discussed with the OWS TF2 community as a whole.
