Default Axtinguisher!

The new axe!!!!!
will be the Axtinguisher. Although it does about half of normal damage to standard run-of-the-mill non-burning enemies, once you light someone on fire the Axtinguisher will guarantee a critical hit.
This is gonna be Great!!!! pyros everywhere!!!!!!
Shovel....axe.....I can handle it!

sounds too good, like the ubersaw

the only downside I see is when fighting other pyros as thats pretty much the only time I use the axe

with a pyro that wont stay on fire, and an axe that does 50% damage
I'll be at a disadvantage

I think that's how they're going to make all new weapons. Everyone is going to have a disadvantage in someway. I don't really play pyro that much so I don't even know if it'll help me.
The name made it sound like you could put out your teammates if they're on fire or something.

If every weapon was powerful and did something special the game would be unbalanced lol. It does criticals if you are on fire, and it does 50% if you're not... sounds fair to me lol.... Cept in sudden death... Then Pyro's are SCREWED.

but like the Ubersaw, the positives far outweigh the negatives

melee only SD is slightly unfair towards ubersaw medics, but they can work around it
but you are indeed screwed with this new axe

maybe they can update the melee SD command to force the default weapon on everyone
that would fix the problem

I know that the Axtinguiser hits crits on fire, but I wonder if that also makes the fire go away. Cause it would be a bit over powered if you could get multiple critical hits on enemies. So im guessing that the new Ax hits a crit but also extinguishes the flame.

Finally, Pyro is thrown a bone and get his place in the God Tier. No more "U r a Maget!" kills from soldiers. Light em and pop 'em once with the axe for good measure. One-Two knockout.
