CAL Pickup Games, MIRC and You!

Wolfie and I showed Nano how to connect last night, and we all had a blast. It gets kinda confusing at first, but after a while, you get the hang of it. This is just the initial steps of connecting to the MIRC channel. Most of this has been stolen, i mean, borrowed from Dunno's MIRC post, with a few changes.
To start:
1) Install mIRC.
Connecting to servers:
1) Launch mIRC
2) Fill out your Full name, E-mail, Nickname and alternative nickname.
Notes: 1) Your nickname is what people see, should there be a netsplit or something and you reconnect most likely your first nickname will still be on a gamesurge server somewhere so your alternative nickname will be used 2) Your name, hostmask, etc can be hidden and I will tell you how to do that later
3) Now expand the Connect menu on the left. Click on Servers. In the IRC Network dropdown, choose "All". In IRC Server, choose GameSurge.
4) If you have GameSurge selected now, click Connect to Server.
5) Since you are now connected to a GameSurge server you can now join channels.
Joining Channels:
1) When the window for the GameSurger server pops up, you'll be able to type commands at the bottom of it. To join a specific channel, you'll have to type /join #[channel name]. In this case, we're going to join the cod4pug channel, and to do that type in: /join #cod4pug at the bottom of the GameSurge window and press enter.
If it was succesful, then you should see LOTS of jibberish coming up in that window.
Commands while in the Channel:
.vent - pops up the ventrillo information that allows you to communicate with your team. While in the Vent server, you'll notice lots of "Chi's". These are all servers that you'll have to go into when you are thrown into a pickup game. At this point, im not sure how the server picks which Chi you'll go into, but if you ask the people who are in the same pickup game as you are, they should let you know.
.view - shows the players currently waiting for the next pickup game
.join - throws you into a random pickup game. After you join, it should say that youve joined a game, and there are so-many spots left. After all the spots have filled up, the game will start.
Notes:
COD4 Servers - After youve joined the correct Chi server in vent, right click on the Vent Chi server name, click on Misc, then copy comment. This will copy the COD4 ip, port, and password. All you have to do then, is to paste this into your console in COD4, and you'll connect.
Teams: after all spots fill up. You'll notice on the GameSurge window that it lists the teams out. OpFor/Marines - blah blah blah, SAS/Spetsnaz - blah blah blah. Make sure you choose the right team.
If this sounds a bit confusing, im doing this from memory at work. Post up any questions, and im sure Nano, Wolfie, or myself will be glad to help out. Just remember, the skill level varies on these servers. Wolfie and I played a game last night where we killed the other team, but the next two games after that, we got steamrolled. Its a great way to learn new tactics and strats, and is a good indication of the level of skills that league players have, and how much we have to learn. Have Fun!
