Default Chris T Howick

Chris T Howick was a dear friend of mine while stationed at Ft. Wainwright, AK and Ft. Drum, NY. I have hours of video of us just having a blast with life.

I happened to open up one of those videos, and thought, man, I had not heard from Howick in a long time, so I googled him.

Come to find out, Howick died in Afghanistan on May 5, 2006. It was funny because I was just thinking, ya know, I hadn't heard from Howick in a while.

It has torn me up, not that drinking is new to me, but I am doing so in his honor, and frankly, this is a guy that loved to live.

He is survived by his wife and child.

My wife is glad I am out of the army, but I can't help thinking, I wish I were still there.

I know how that feels man. We went to iraq from august 2007-march 2008 and didnt lose a single man. Come back home and a month later one of my buddies dies in a motorcycle accident out here. He was 21, just married, and was getting out in 10 months. I managed to make it to his wake which was on memorial day back home.

DonCarlos....i know how you feel. Over a 30 year career in covert ops, public safety and homeland security I have had many a comrade make the ultimate sacrifice. The one thing I have truly learned from my years is that those thing happen to remind the rest of us how precious life, liberty and freedom is. Life is fleeting and life is for living. We all should honor your friend's memory as we honor every man and woman who served and sacrificed.

If you ever want to talk let me know. I actually do a fair amount of peer conseling, CISM stuff.
